About Romain Solheim

Romain Solheim works as an interpreter in legal, public sector, and medical settings.

He provides interpreting services between Norwegian, Ukrainian, Russian, and English, with a strong focus on accuracy, impartiality, and clear communication in situations where details matter.

Romain has a background in law, interpreting, and translation, as well as experience working with legal matters in both Norway and Ukraine. His experience includes cases related to asylum law, employment law, child welfare, and immigration law.

He has studied law at the University of Oslo, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, and Humboldt University of Berlin. In addition, he has completed studies in interpreting and translation at Kyiv National Linguistic University and OsloMet – Oslo Metropolitan University.

Assignments are carried out for courts, police authorities, healthcare institutions, law firms, public agencies, and private clients.

Interpreting services can be provided both in person and remotely. All assignments are handled confidentially and in accordance with professional ethics and applicable confidentiality requirements.

Interpreting

Interpreting: 1, 052 NOK per hour
Travel time: 736 NOK per hour

Interpreting assignments are charged on an hourly basis and billed for each commenced hour.

Minimum booking: 1 hour
Cancelation: Assignments cancelled less than 24 hours before the scheduled start time may be charged according to the applicable rates.

Additional Charges

The rates below apply in addition to the standard hourly rate.

Work performed between 18:00 and 22:00: 50% surcharge
Work performed on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays: 50% surcharge
Work performed between 22:00 and 07:00: 100% surcharge

On-Site Interpreting

For on-site assignments, the standard hourly rate applies from the start of the assignment until the interpreter has returned home.

Value Added Tax (VAT)

All prices are stated exclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT). VAT will be added where applicable.

Translation

The price of a translation is determined based on the length of the text, subject matter, complexity, and delivery deadline.
Indicative rates:
- General texts: from NOK 1.50 per word
- Legal texts: from NOK 2.50 per word
- Medical texts: from NOK 2.50 per word
- Urgent assignments: by agreement
Each assignment is assessed individually, and you will receive a non-binding quotation before any work begins.
For translation assignments, a 50% advance payment is required before work commences. The remaining 50% is invoiced upon delivery of the completed translation.
For larger projects, individual payment arrangements can be agreed upon.

Delivery Time
Delivery times are agreed individually for each assignment and depend on the length and complexity of the text.

All translations are reviewed before delivery to ensure linguistic quality, accuracy, and the correct use of terminology.
